May I first of all congratulate you on the very fine Web-Site. Easy to navigate and read.

My main interests at this time of my life, centre around geneology. During my searches I have found links to The Worcestershire Regiment through my g.g.maternal grandfather, John Bell b.1830, a Private in the 36th Foot Regiment. He served in Ireland and England and possibly in the West Indies, Barbadoes.

I'm 78yrs now, an ex-soldier, 14471808 Royal Scots Fusiliers.
Any help available would be gratefully appreciated.

And now for a read through the Forums.

Do you know what years your g.g.maternal grandfather, John Bell served with the 36th Regiment?

Regards,

Louis

Scully, Thanks for your interest.

The following is all the information I have to hand at present.

John BELL b.1827-30 Deal, Kent. Died 1903 Birmingham.

Possibly with the Regt for some time prior to 1857 when his first son, Charles, was born in Salford, Machester. If he joined up at age of 18yrs that would put a start date around 1848.

John was married to Rebecca Ann FRIZZELL b.17.01.1838, Barbadoes, West Indies. Died Sept.1898 Birmingham. Not known where the marriage took place.

Second son John, b.1861 in Dublin
First daughter Mary Ann b.1867 in Buttervant (? spelling ? ), Ireland
Four other children, b.1869, 1871, 1874 & 1876 in Birmingham.

I have details of all John & Rebecca's children, also Rebecca's family.

Details I do NOT have include John's Army Number. Obviously that information could open up a lot of other avenues of enquiry. So if you could help on that score, I would be most grateful. Thanks. :)
