I would be interested in any information on my grandfather, RMS Robinson. I know that he was with the Regiment in Ireland in 1904.

Hi Pat,

Do you know his service number?

What were his first names?

What was his date of birth?

Regards,

Hi Louis,

I have virtually no information.

My mother had trouble getting a passport, some 30 years ago, because her birth certificate gave the Regiment as her place of birth.

She told me that she was born in Tiperairy on 15.01.1904. At that time the Regiment was able to confirm her status.

I was told that, in later years, he was seconded to the RFC as a Disiplinary Officer at Waddington aerodrome.

Thanks for your last reply

Pat.

ps. I'm sure that I have a photo; I will send it - I think I know where it is.

Hi Pat,

I have found some information which may help:

There was a Sergeant Major (Warrant Officer Class 2) Harry Robinson (army number 21384) who served with the Worcestershire Regiment. In World War 1 he served in the Balkans from 21st June 1915.
He was transferred to the Royal Flying Corps on the 11th July 1917 (his number changed to 88002) and his rank was then Warrant Officer Class 1 (meaning he would have been a Regimental Sergeant Major).
Some time later he transferred to the Devonshire Regiment (his army number changed to 38551).

From what you have said this person fits the bill.

Hi Louis,

Sorry for the delay in giving a rerly to your post.

You have certainly found my grandfather. The name Harry has been continued on that side of the family.

I did not know of his move after the RFC/RAF period.

Is there a way of gaining more information?

Thanks

Pat.
