2nd Battalion in India

It seems my grandfather was unusual in that pre-war, he may have joined the 1st battalion around 1907(family story that he served in Ireland), transferred to the 2nd (1911 census) but was in Egypt with the 1st in 1914(photos).

Has any other reseacher found that this happened to their relative?

Does anyone have any information over and above that on the regimental website about the 2nd in India?

Any photographs?

Any help would be appreciated.
