Service records/war diaries

I am attempting to compile my Gt uncle's service and war record relating to the Gallipoli landings. I have his service number, rank and battalion, and details of the Helles Memorial where he is remembered. I also have his medal index from the national archives. What i would dearly love to find out is when he enlisted? Where he served prior to Gallipoli and what date he was wounded during the campaign; he died of his wounds 5/6/1915.
Does the Regiment still hold searchable service records and war diaries from this period that are accessible to the public?

Anybody help, please. Peter Hobbins

Hello Simon

Thank you for taking time out to reply. His details as follows: Pte John Dobbins. 15298. 4th Batt. Died 5/6/1915 of wounds suffered Gallipoli. I believe the 4th Batt followed the Lancashire Fusiliers ashore on 25th April 1915, whether John was part of that landing force is yet to be determined.

I've no idea what records you have, perhaps you will tell me, but any further information would be more than welcome!

Thank you.

Simon - thanks for taking the trouble, i now know where he enlisted.

Do you think there is any way of finding out which company in the 4th Batt he might have been attached?
