TA battalions between the wars

Postby allan price » Sun Sep 04, 2011 1:05 am

Hi,I have a photo (well, half of a photo) of my Grandad ,his brother & several other men on what I presume is a TA annual camp,& as no one is left alive of that era of the family,I would like to try to know about my grandads service. The pic turned up after his & my Nans deaths.
I believe his brother Harold Turner was with the regiments return from Dunkirk,so presume that my grandad would have been with the same Battalion? Was that the 7th Battalion?
The pic shows the group in 22 pattern uniform with long puttees,my grandad wearing his cap at a rakish angle, with signallers crossed flags & a good conduct chevron (I am unable to post a pic due to inherited retardedness, probably through my grans side...)
How would i go about finding out any information on him?his name was John "Jack" Turner & was from worcester.
thanks,
Allan

Hi Allan,

Both the 7th and 8th T.A. Battalions were at Dunkirk.
