Baku Azerbaijan

Postby larlins12 » Tue Nov 15, 2011 12:54 pm

In 1918, the British send a frorce of about 1000 to defend Azerbaijan from an Otterman invasion, It was called the "Dunster Force"

There is a monument in Baku to some of the men killed, as records appear incomplete. I am told that about 97 died but the monument only has the names of 47.

I noticed that there are 7 from the Worchestershire Regiment. do your records contain any names of those killed in Baku.?? Or does anybody know where these can be found

other services/ regiments named are

Royal Navy, Royal Marines Light Infantry, Royal Field Artillary, Royal Engineers, Royal Warwickshire Reg, Glouchestershire Reg, Worchestershire Reg, North Staffordshire, Royal Army service.

The memorial has the names and rank of those who died but no service numbers.

many thanks for any assistance, I can be contacted by email at francis.m@tig.az.
