Dear Sirs,

My name is Rui Filipe curator of the Battle Vimeiro Museum. At some time ago I asked for help about a Cartdrige pouch plate from the 29th found in the battlefield by farmers.
I ask again your help. Next year we will have a new exhibition about Roliça and Vimeiro, and I will be need some images of Lt. Colonel Lake to honor his and the 29th actions. The problem is that it is extremly dificult to find anything regarding Lake. In you web page there are two images Lt. Colonel Lake and lake leading the 29th. Where can I find them with a better resolution?

Best regards,
Rui

Hi! Louis

Thank you. This is great!

Some curiosity about Lake's monument: When the monument was improved in 1903, the workers dogged the marked grave and found lakes remains. In the skeleton they found a musket ball. This musket ball was collected by Mr. Francisco Pacheco, "Mayor" of Roliça. Latter the relic was achieved by the private museum of Gaeiras (near Obidos and Caldas fruit Rainha), who's owner had a wonderful Peninsular War collection of relics, documents, weapons etc. The museum was closed after the last owner died and the collection was given to Óbidos museum. I'm sure that the precious Lake's musket ball is there.

best regards,
Rui

Have I not seen this musket ball on display in the Worcestershire Regiment Museum in Worcester?

Hi! Mark,

I certain that there is one at Óbidos Museum (near Roliça). I can't confirm if this one is the real one or a case of false relics.

Rui
