Herbert Henshaw 29th Foot, ?Drowned in Glasgow -1862/63

I recently heard from a cousin that ancestor Private Herbert Henshaw is recorded as drowned in or near Glasgow. Please do you have a record of this? The date is of particular interest as he is the alleged father of 2xGreatgrandfather born late November,1863. Was it normal for such non-combat deaths not to be registered through the normal civilian registration? He was a very young man - aged 16 in the 1861 Census at Farnborough Barracks.
All information regarding such a death would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards and many thanks for previous information.
