Private George Percy Box

Postby scully » Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:56 pm

John Nicholls is trying to find out when and where a name disc belonging to Private George Percy Box (7970) would have been used?

You can view a photo of this disc by clicking on the link below:

John can be contacted by email at: johnjoan.nichollspark@virgin.net or post a reply here in this Forum.

This is my Great Grandad!

I have a lot of information regarding him from some research I have been doing, I would be very keen to gain any information. This would mean a great deal to my family.

Unfortunately the email address no longer works, if you can provide any other contact details?

Thanks Gemma

Hi Gemma,

Do you have a photograph of your Great Gandfather in uniform?

I am researching the men of the 2nd Bn. Worcestershire Regiment (1914 Star men) and photographs are hard to come by.

Regards

Hi Gemma,

Sorry I don't have the contact details for John Nicholls but if you contact Louis Scully (webmaster) he may be able to help you.

Thank you regards the photograph of George. If you submit the photo to webmaster@worcestershireregiment.com Louis can but it on the photo gallery on the website and I can pick it up from there.

I have details from 1891, 1901 and 1911 census returns and information on his birth and marriage (year and quarter only) CWGC and Soldiers Died details. Can you supply any further details for George please.

The following is a newspaper report:
2nd January 1915 edition Bromsgrove Messenger
Previously reported missing, now reported wounded and not missing.
7970 Pte G. Box – Reported from Base under 22nd November 1914.

Many thanks

Peter

I've now sent the picture in.

Do you have a picture of the news report at all as we have conflicting dates.

Thanks

Hi Gemma

The newspaper details were taken from the Bromsgrove Messenger but I don't have a copy of the whole page. What problem do you have regarding the date?

The photograph of George is very much appreciated but can you confirm which one is George as the caption does not identify him.

Regards

Peter
