Pte Harry Hall Vincent - 2nd Battalion

Postby sandymae » Mon Oct 22, 2007 8:02 pm

Furthering my family history research I have discovered that another soldier - Pte Harry Hall Vincent died in WWI.

Harry was with the 2nd Battalion Worcs (25708), he died 26 June 1917 and is listed on bay 6 Arras memorial. Aged 22yrs.

His uncle (Pte Samuel Andrews - 14571) whom I listed on this forum back in February was also with Worcs before transferring to Devons and then MGC.

Harry was Sam's nephew.

Which battle would Harry have died in?

hi Sandra,

On the evening of the 24th June 1917 the 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment moved up to the Hindenburg Support Line (known as the 'Tunnel Trench') in prepataion of an attack. However, at the last minute the attack was posponed and the Battalion was brought back to camp at Moyenneville.

Hope this helps,

Louis
