I have a copy of a WW1 Medal Index Card and would like an opinion as to the meaning of the words, TAKEN ON CHARGE ,written in the Remarks column alongside the Medals column.(possibly in relation to the Victory Medal)
regards
John

Hi
Welcome to our Forum
The answer to your question is this soldier was about to appear before his Company Commander or Commanding Officer for some offence he had commited if found guilty he would receive a period of punishment or if very bad a Court Martial, In Army slang it was known as being on a Fizzer.

Thank you Clive.
Was it normal practice to record an "Offence" on The Medal Index Card?
