Hi
I am trying to find out as much as I can about Alfred, I understand that he was appointed to a temporary commission as a 2nd Lieutenant into the 5th Battalion on the 26.9.17, was promoted to Acting Captain in 18.6.18 and was mentioned in Dispatches on the 8.11.18

I would love to know where he served any ideas how I may find out?

Regards

Hi Ady,

Captain Alfred Norman Alexander was initially with the as a Corporal with the army number GS/7465.
He was commissioned in to the Worcestershire Regiment as a Second Lieutenant and later became Acting Captain.

Hi Ady,

The Army List for 1918 shows him as an officer (2nd Lieutenant) with the 5th (Reserve) Battalion Worcestershire Regiment but indicates he was attached to the 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. In May and June 1918 the 1st Battalion were involved in the Battle of the Aisne.

Hope this helps a little.

Regards,

Louis
