Hi,
The above was my maternal grandfather's brother. Would it be possible for someone to give me information regarding his army service please?. I see from the awards he was awarded the DCM, i would like to know why.

The DCM - as far as I can see without citation - was awarded after the war, according to an army order concerning prisoners of war. As the awards list states St Quentin (German spring offensive 1918?) I would say the recommendation was made for an action at St Quentin, that was brought to the notice of the awarding authorities after his release as a POW.
I'm sure someone here can tell you more

Hello John,
Sgt.Caleb Seeley won his D.C.M. (Distinguished Conduct Medal) on 21st March 1918 at the Battle of St. Quentin. It is dealt with in great detail on pages 324, 325 and 326 of Captain Stacke’s Regimental history. I have read many brave stories but this one wants some topping. They were all brave men but Caleb stood out amongst them. The Battalion was effectively destroyed, those not killed were taken prisoner. It was a hell of a fight.
He was one of the first men to answer Lord Kitchener’s call and joined the Worcesters in September 1914. He did not go abroad till after 1st January 1916.
