Hello all -

Could anyone suggest a battalion for Cpl Millman? Possibly 4th or 9th?

Family think he served "in Russia" at the end of the war...

Thanks

Simon

Simon,

The 9th Bn went to Baku in Southern Russia on 23rd Aug 1918, they returned to North Persia(Iran) on 14th Sep 1918. Very shortly after on 19th Nov 1918 the Bn returned to Baku(one Coy based at Petrovsk). The Bn left Russia on 23rd Aug 1919 moving to Turkey on 1st Sept 1919 and was disbanded on 19th Dec 1919.

Hello,

According to his Medal Card,

L.Cpl then Cpl William Millman , 13879

Theatre of War 2B Balkans, 04-07-15

Survived the war - Class Z

I've had a quick check on ancestry and there are no service records, pension records or mentions in the great roll for him.

So, the timings would be correct for him being in the 9th Battalion.

Cheers,
John
