Defying Battalion Orders

Postby CNB » Sun Mar 22, 2009 6:14 pm

June 1915 2nd Battalion - My great uncle is in trouble 'for disobeying battalion orders' and confined to barracks. His crime? He shaved his upper lip!!
I have seen photos of several soldiers in the Worcesters and many do not have moustaches. My only answer for this seemingly strange mis-demeanour and punishment is that perhaps there was a water shortage and the men were told not to shave!

I would be glad to know what others think.
Thank you.
