John Blewer - Army number

Postby reedie1 » Tue Mar 31, 2009 1:03 am

Hi

I am trying to find information about my grandfather John Blewer, he was born in 1899 in Aston in Birmngham, and was believed to serve in the 1st Battalion. He died in 1959, and I believe he did receive a war pension.

If anybody knows any information about him, or what his army number was, I would be grateful. My dad would dearly like to track down his dad's service record.

thanks

Sue

Hi Sue

There are a few places for you to start. Check the National Archive for a Medal Record card. This can be done online. Check Ancestry for a service record, pension record. You may be lucky but be awaire that many were destroyed in the blits. You can get access to Ancestry via your local library.
