Hi Doc,

James Bubb (9529) was mobilized on the 7th September 1914 at Redditch. He was 35 years and 11 months old at the time. He joined the 5th Battalion and later on the 17th December 1914 he was transferred to the 3rd Battalion, arriving in France on the 18th December. The war diary shows that the draft of men finally arrived at the 3rd Battlion location at Kemmel on the 13th January 1915.

He was officially reported missing on the 12th March 1915 during the attack on Spanbroek Molen at 4.10 p.m that afternoon, the attack was a failure and losses were over 300 men. The attack was a joint attack with the Wiltshire Regiment. He was later assumed to have been killed on that day.

Regards,

Louis

Hi Doc

I have found a reference in the Worcester Herald 10th April 1915 edition of:- 9829 Pte J. Bubb Missing. I have also found a reference in the 9th December 1916 edition to a:- 23519 Pte A. Bubb – Birmingham - Wounded. Could they be brothers?

Regards Allan

Thanks again
