Regimental Numbers 3rd Battalion 1915-1916

Postby Simon_Fielding » Sat Jan 23, 2010 10:00 pm

I'm looking to expand my understanding of the service of Private John ROLLINS, 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment (27809)
Killed in action Thursday 24th August 1916. Does his service number offer any clues to his enlistment?

Hi Simon

I have found a reference in the Worcester Herald 30th September 1916 edition of:-

17809 Pte J. Rollins - Bewdley - Killed

The number is slightly off but this is not unusual when you see the number of casualties listed on a weekly basis. Just a typo.
