Worcestershire Regiment

Hi, I came across this forum whilst researching Pte 20042 E T Turner 4th Btn Worc and I was hoping someone could possibly help.
Pte Turner is listed as having died in Turkey on 25/01/1917 so I'm presuming he was taken POW sometime during the Gallipoli campaign. Would anyone be able to confirm this and would there be any way to find out during which action he was captured?

Private Ernest Thomas Turner (20042) is listed as died in Turkey 25/01/1917 (4th Battalion). It is most likely he died of desease as many other soldiers did in Gallipoli.

My line of thought leading me to presume he was taken POW was the date of death and place of death given, Turkey 1917, quite a time after Gallipoli had been evacuated. He is also buried in the Baghdad North Gate war Cemetery where I know prisoners who had died and were buried in Turkish POW camps were later re-interned there.

Just managed to find out the information I needed

Definately a Gallipoli POW - Private Ernest Turner, X Company, 4th Worc Regt was captured on 6th August 1915 and interned in Kiangri Camp in Turkey. He was one of about 70 captured that day at Helles. They were attacking the Krithia Vineyard (trench H13) in the afternoon, and suffered heavy casualties crossing the no-mans-land. Some of the battalion did successfully get into the Turkish trenches and held on for about an hour, only 12 got back to the British lines. Turner was probably one of those that got into the Turkish trench, and maybe wounded, and then captured.

20042 Pte E. T. Turner was reported in the Worcester Herald on the 6 November 1915 as Wounded & Prisoner of War.
