Hi Malcolm,

Private Moses Hicks (8280) served with the 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment and landed with the battalion at Boulogne on the 14th August 1914.

He was later promoted to rank of Corporal and was finally discharge due to wounds/unfit to serve on the 28th May 1916. He was awarded the Silver War Badge (wounds badge).

He was awarded the following medals:
1914 Star with Clasp and Rose
British War Medal
Victory Medal.

Hope this helps a little.

Regards,

Louis (webmaster)

Hi Malcolm,

I have your grandfather on my database for 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment men August - December 1914.

He enlisted on 7th March 1904. Reported in Worcester Herald 22nd January 1916 edition as wounded (Corporal). Discharged 28th May 1916. Clasp & Roses 18th May 1921.

If you can give any further details, when and where born etc. that would be very much appreciated. The database I am working on contains the names of just over 1600 2nd Battalion men with the aim of trying to name those men that fought at Gheluvelt on 31st October 1914. Your grandfather may have been at Gheluvelt but to date I do not have enough information on him to confirm this.

Regards

Peter
