1st battalion world war 1

Hi

I dont know if anyone can help me. My great-grandfather was in the 1st battalion worcesters during ww1 but i am not sure where i can find out more information.

his name is arthur pugh (may also be george william arthur pugh) he was born in approx 1895, was from dudley. My nan says he was in the infantry. that he was shot in the lungs whilst in egypt but the shrapnel remained in situ until he died in the 1970s. she said he served in egypt, france, germany and istambul.

i do not know his regimental or medal roll number.

i would be so keen to findout more, but am not sure where to start.
