William Scriven

Postby Susie » Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:22 am

Hi

I am researching a William Scriven who was born in Tipton in 1888 or 1889. In 1911 his father Thomas was a widower.

I believe William may have been in the Worcestershire regiment in WW1 as I have a photo of him in a uniform that appears to match one already on your website.

There is a William Arthur Scriven on the CWGC casualty list. I'm not sure if this is the same gentleman. Does anyone have any other information about the William Arthur Scriven from the Worcs regiment who died 16th August 1917 to enable me to work out if it is the same man?

Thanks
Susie

On SDitGW the entry for
Pte 45253 William Arthur Scriven 4th Bn Worcs Reg KIA 16th August 1917
shows that he was resident in Kidderminster and enlisted in Stourbridge

After further research...

...I found a William Arthur Scriven born in 1900 on the 1911 census. His address is the same as that of the WW1 casualty at Woodrow Chaddesley Corbett Near Kidderminster

So it looks like the William I was searching for survived the war

Thanks for your help.
