Hi Peter,
Private Alfred George Stokes (46207) died of wounds on the 21st November 1917, age 21. His parents were Alfred and Mary Stokes, of Rubery, near Birmingham. He served with the 14th Battalion. He enlisted at Bromsgrove. He was born in Wolverhampton.

His name is listed on the memorial in front of the Rubery & Rednal RBL on New Road in Rubery

He is reported in the 22nd December 1917 edition of the Worcester Herald as Died of Wounds.

thankyou for the information, do you know, in what action he was
wounded in?
My grandfather E Joynes 38291 was wounded on 9th October 1917,
with gunshot wounds to the abdomen (Nemur Crossing) Fred Dancox won the VC on that day.
E Joynes ended up in Newcastle Upon Tyne General hospital on 16th October 1917 and was released in February 1918, he never went into action again. I always wondered whether Alfred G Stokes fought along side with E Joynes 38291, as, E Joynes eventually married Alfred G Stokes
sister Dorothy Stokes, (my grandmother).
One day I might find out.
