Where did my grandad serve?

Postby djdee107 » Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:42 am

I wanted to ask on here if anyone can tell me 'How do I find out where my grandad served during WW1?
I now have his medals & I now have his service number, I've also bought & PlumPudding his medical certificate from the National Archives.
His number was 8896 private William Hancox, Worcester Regiment, enlistment 4.9.12. Discharged 13.12.17.
Now I want to find out where he would have been in WW1, as I remember my father saying something about Ypres? I don't not know what Battalion he was in, any chance of finding out? How would I find out all these things, anyone on here can help?

:D :D Just got my grandads photo, on the back of it it just says worcesters 1914-1918 Delville Woods?
The photo has 5 blokes standing at the back & 3 blokes (ones me grandad) a Sargent sat in the middle and a corporal at the end?
Why cannot we post photo's on here? I'm sure that someone might know who these chaps are?
