Hi men.
Wonder if any one can help.
I am trying to track down the service records of my Grandfather..... L/Cpl Alfred Summerfield, Worcestershire Reg. Machine gun Corps. 22735, 61384
He was awarded the DCM for conspicuous gallantry.
I have searched lots of areas & found on Ancestry.com his "British Army WW1 Medal Rolls Index Card" but nothing else.
I am know lost & would be most gratefull for any other assistance.

Many thanks.

Bob

Hello Bob,
Welcome to the website, sorry we are a bit slow to answer you. Each of us is involved in our own type of research and dont always have much time to spare. I have spent about an hour doing a quick search to get you going.
Your grandfather joined the Worcestershire Regiment betwen 1st and 3rd June 1915 and got issued with the number 22735. He was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps with 32 other Worceters. His new number was as you know 61384. Their new numbers in MGC were from 61359 to 61391. I did not do a full search on them (It is after midnight now ! ) but they appear mostly to be 1915 men. The only date I can find for a transfer was on the record 61372 MGC, who was Pte John Jarvis 8441in the Worcesters. He transferred 8th Jan 1917. Your grandfather won his DCM in the MGC, so unfortunately I do not have a record of what he won it for.
Hope this helps.
Regards Mike
