Trying to search for information on my grandfather Alfred Percy Lucas - served with Worcestershire regiment - Enlisted 9th May 1916 - Discharged 13th March 1918 - received Silver war badge. I know his reg no was 50257 - but don't know where he would have served, in which campaigns, or where/how he was injured leading to discharge. Silver war badge no. B127360. Any help/ideas gratefully accepted. Thanks.

Hi Gilhannah

Since the only award he received was the SWB, it would indicate he did not serve overseas. If he did he would have another MIC.
Paragraph 392 Kings Regulations xvi - No longer physically fit for war service.
See - www.1914-1918.net/worcester.htm
He may have been in of the reserve battalions.

regards

Robert

OK - looks like links dont work on this site, cut and paste from www on, then it is the first link that comes up.

It also seems his service record was destroyed unfortunately.

Hi Gilhannah,
This may be a very long shot but worth a look!
On FIND MY PAST there is a set Territorial Army Papers, pre WW1,for an ALFRED PERCY LUCAS, Born HACKNEY 1884.
He served in a number of Army Units between 1908 and 1912.
On the 1911 CENSUS he is living with his mother, HARRIOT AT 32 ,NORVILLE ST. BOW E ,LONDON.
Regards,
