I am researching my wife's family tree and have been passed this photo of her Great Grandfather John Thomas Powell Born Sep 1881 in Gloucestershire, England. Lived in Gloucester City. (link below)

The uniform appears to be WW1 and cap badge appears to be Worcester Regiment.

I suspect he enlisted with a Gloucester unit of the Worcester Regiment, I read some where that such a unit existed, is this so.?

Where can I find out more about his service record?

Thanks for any help,
Steve

Hi Steve,

In order to help I have added the photo of Private John Thomas Powell (33438) in the SUBMITTED PHOTOS SECTION of this website in Gallery 2- 1st World War.

It would seem that he later was transferred to the Army Service Corps and his number changed to M/396032.
