Pte Pichard A Field 19355

Postby Chas » Wed Dec 24, 2014 12:04 am

Hi I am trying to find out more information about my great uncle Richard Alfred Field.
Here's what I do know: Born 25th Mar 1895 Offenham Cross, Worcs.
Enlisted 8th Aug 1918.
Served 5th Worcestershire Reg No 19355 Private, 4th Worcestershire Regiment 19355 Private.
Served in 'D' Company of 5th Battalion. Transferred to the 4th Battalion.
We believe he was wounded in August 1915 at Gallipoli (leg would I believe) during the Dardanelles campaign and sent to hospital in Alexandria, Egypt.
On his recovery he acted as a medical orderly for a while before being transferred to the Army Pay Corps Reg No20796 Corporal.
His Medal Card lists him as Richard H. Field and was awarded the British War Medal, the 1914-1915 Star and the Allied Victory Medal.
Is there any other information that can be found out about Richard Field? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chas

Hi Chas, Are you sure your enlisted date is correct. The reason I ask is my grandfather's number is 19419 4th Batt who joined in 1914 and the 4th Worcs were part of the 29th division that landed in Gallilopi 25th April 1915.
