WO John Wall 9671 MC Grenadier Guards

The above soldier's 1914 Star record suggests that he served with the Worcesters. I have yet to locate his papers, but his MC states attached to the HAC, however, whilst he might have done so at some point, he certainly didn't receive the MC with them, is it possible that his MC was awarded whilst serving with the Worcesters (LG 1/1/1918)?
