WO Class 11 Edwin Ford, 7848, 2nd Battalion, landed in France 12 August, 1914 and listed as Segt. on the 2nd Battalion Worcester Cathedral Rolls.
He doesn't appear on your Roll, do you know of any reason as to why he wasn't there? He transferred to the 3rd Battalion much later.

Sorry I did not see your original posting on Ford. New information regards 2nd Bn. men will change the listing as and when available. I believe that 7848 Ford was at Gheluvelt. He DoW 11th General Hospital 9.6.1917 (3rd Bn.)

This will never be a 100 per cent complete list for those 2nd Battalion men at Gheluvelt. Without the service records for all those 14 Star men this is just not possible but I had hoped to at least compile a list for those men I believed were with the Battalion on the 31st October 1914 (that is not to say they were involved in the charge on that day). I am workmg on 1st and 3rd Battalion 14 Star men at present so don't know when a Gheluvelt update will be done.

Thank you for your offer. I have the basic details for each individual (14 Star Roll, MIC etc.) for 1st Bn. and now ploughing through 3rd Bn. men. It's later when this is completed that I go into more detail for each man (birth, marriage etc.). Always open to help with the research.

I had hoped with the Gheluvelt list that feedback on the men listed would help but how many people today are interested or know about a relative who had served with the 2nd Worcesters at Gheluvelt?

Peter. After your answer on the Forum Re: 1964 Gheluvelt Anniversary, I can add some names to the list who are not present. G H Chesterton, 8846, MM. H Little, (9598?), O'Brien, (Thomas, 9231?), Albert E Patton, 28124, (also 8139 DCLI). All these men attended the Dinner as Gheluvelt chargers as listed in 'Firm' Jan 1965.

Trick. (Still searching for Chantler medals).

They may well have attended the dinner but they were not at Gheluvelt.

O'Brien is 1st Bn. and a 14/15 Star man.
Patton was a 14 Star man (DCLI) served with Worcesters later.
Hill is a 3rd Bn. man.
Chesterton also 3rd Bn. man.

Pte Jas. (James?) Joseph BROWN 7998 on 2nd Battalion roll, landed in France 11 August, 1914. Sometime later transferred to 3rd Battalion.
1914 Star man no clasp.
Do you know if he was there please?

I have not found any reports (wounding, sickness etc.) to exclude him from Gheluvelt list. He also served with 4th & 9th Battalions. A newspaper report for wounded (shell shock) August 1916.

As regards the news paper report of shell shock, August 1916. Can you identify the paper please and do you know if I can PlumPudding page? Details for this man very difficult to trace. 1918 on words he's located in Birmingham but if he's with the 2nd Battalion in 1911 then he's identified as coming from Dudley?
