35163 Pte Arthur Lacey

Postby crimea » Fri Feb 09, 2018 9:32 am

My granddad joined the 1st battalion Dec 1916 but at some time between then and Nov 1917 he transferred to the 3rd battalion. Anyone have knowledge of when this might have been? Was there a specific draft between the battalions?
I have searched the war diaries to see if there is any mention of such a draft and apart form 14 Jul 1917 when 'draft of 193 ORs joined the (3rd) Bn' , I cant find anything which might be it.
Would be very grateful for any help from anyone more knowledgably about the Worcestershires. Trying to track granddad service and obviously this change of battalion has thrown me. Many thanks,
Arthur

I,m no expert and you may already know this.........his service papers have survived but are very difficult to read but it appears he attested on 11/12/15 and was promptly placed on the reserve the next day, perhaps this was to the 1st baton.he was mobilised on 22/8/16 and posted on 26/8/16...... perhaps this was to the 3rd Battn, his papers also mention B company, unfortunately other than his marriage and discharge in 1919 it doesn’t,t appear to mention his movements. He enlisted in Coventry.

A bit more....it appears he may have been at Infantry base depot no 46 at Rouen on 1/12/16....... try looking at an old post on this site reference Private Arthur Henry...... Scullys reply gives a good indication of the movements of a man with a number similar to Arthur’s!
