I have visited Crooneart Chapel Cemetery and have photos of the graves of Private Samuel Cottrell no 16680 and Private Mark Stevenson no 40131 if anyone would like copies of the photos and others of the cemetery and general area I will send.
I laid a wreath on the grave of Private Lewis Goldthorpe no 7380, my grandmothers first husband.

Best wishes

Suzan

Suzan,

I see Pte Goldthorpe was a MM winner, do you have details of his award?

Kevin

Hello Suzan,
I dont know if you realised it but all 3 men were Killed in Action on "FRIDAY" 13th July 1917! All three are buried (As you know) side by side, so we can assume they died in the same incident. Do you know anything of what happened to them? Was there, for instance any letter of condolence sent to your grandmother by anyone at the Regiment? I do not know why but Samuel Cottrell is listed in Soldiers Died Great War as in the 3rd Battalion. The CWGC list him as in the 10th Battalion.
Regards Mike
