Until mid December 1914 the 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment were in trenches on the Bassée Road. During this period when out of line the men of the battalion were billitted either at Estaires or in the hamlets of La Gorgue and Rouge Croix. They suffered many casualties during this period from either enemy fire or frostbite.

I will be adding more details on the website covering the period December 1914 to May 1915, shortly.

Regards,

Louis
