Private William Herbert, 42463 Pte. 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, formerly 13079 Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry who died age 28. William was born on the 11th December 1889 at Coventry and employed in the City as a cycle finisher. He enlisted in August 1914 and entered France with the 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on the 7th August 1915 but was later transferred. He was killed in action Steenwerck on the 10th April 1918 with the Worcestershire Regiment. He is buried at Croix Du-Bac British Cemetery, Steenwerck and has a special memorial B5. He was the brother of George Herbert of 33/11 Much Park street, Coventry.
