Hi Allan / Chris

Thanks for the information on George.

I have quite a bit of information on him now, but I did not have the 2 news reports Allan referd to, I will go to the libary and get copies

There is a report in "The Bromsgrove Droitwich and Redditch Messenger" dated 23rd September 1916 "FEARD DEATH OF FINSTAL MAN"

George was awarded the 14 star and is on the nominal role @ the cathedral. So possibly he could have been @ Gheluvelt?

I'm off over to France and Belgium in May, to see visit where my relatives fought and died.

Hi Allan

If george was "Previously reported missing now reported killed" what does this mean? Did they find his body? So they were able to report him killed or do they assume he was killed as he has not shown up since they reported him missing.

I'm not sure of the process / rules etc.

Peter,
Thanks for a quick reply.
Are you saying Ashford, Gibbons, Pilsbury, Scott and Stone were at Gheluvelt?
As regards Edwards can I ask how you know he was 3rd Battalion?

David

Can I ask what is your interest in 2nd Bn. Worcs. men?

Insufficient evidence to confirm one way or the other whether they were all (Ashford, Gibbons, Pilsbury, Scott and Stone) at Gheluvelt.

Regarding Edwards he is on 3rd Bn. Star Roll.

Peter,
I collect medals etc to the Worcesters, long family connection. I also research at the archives.
I'll need to check as my records indicate 2nd not 3rd?

David

Do you come across many 2nd Bn. Worc. 1914 star medals?

Would be interested to hear what details you have on Edwards, he is most definitely on 3rd Bn. star roll.

Was at the Hive in Worcester on Thursday last and found a report for Pte. 8650 C. A. Scott who was reported to be in the 4th Scottish General Hospital, Glasgow under date 27th October 1914. So he could not have been at Gheluvelt.

Peter,
At the moment I'm enjoying the sun in the SW France, not expected back until October.
Sadly 1914 Trio's are now few and far between.
What's "Hives"?
I expect to be back in the "Worcester archives" in October.
Thanks for the Scott details, it all builds a picture.

David

The Hive is the library/history centre in Worcester.

Scott information from Berrows Weekly Journal. They listed week by week the casualties along with many other newspapers at that time (died, wounded and missing) and some have details of the hospital they ended up in when back in blighty.

You say its a long family connection regards collecting medals, did any of your past relatives serve with the 2nd Bn. Worcs?

Enjoy the sunshine.

Peter,
Thank you. Have to think about joining it might be another avenue for information.
No as far as I know only the 1st though for a few years I was in the TAVR, out of Kidderminster in the early 70's.
As for the others you say there is no information either way? If they weren't wounded or sick then what records would you want to see?

David
