I recently aquired a 1914 star & bar medal trio to 10128 Pte A T Bannister 3rd battalion Worcestershire regiment.I have looked at the WW1 pension records online but cannot find him. I believe that a lot of recipients of the 1914 star & bar trio were local to the regiment which they joined

Is there anyway I could find out where this chap enlisted

Thanks

Mark

Pte. Arthur Thomas Bannister

Morning Mark,
I am much interested in your man, at the moment I am doing some work on the 1914 Stars awarded to the Worcestershire Regiment. What I would like is an exchange of information, please. I will show you mine first ( Lucky You)! Before August 1914, 56% of the 3rd Battalion had enlisted in Birmingham (Most of but not all of which is in Warwickshire), I think Arthur did too, the only Arthur Thomas Bannister that fits the bill was born in Aston in 1887. Did you know he was also awarded the Silver War Badge? If you dont already have these very good details, there are two ways to get them. !. Go to the National Archives at Kew, fight your way through the "Zoo" there and try to find them. 2. Regimental Archives have their own copies and for a £5 Donation, they will send you the details. You could also try them for any other information they have on Arthur. There is a link to them from the home page of this website. What I would like please, is a copy of Arthur's Medal Index Card or at least the reference numbers under which his medals were issued. You can E/mail me on mjonesgfc@aol.com. The gfc bit is Gillingham Football Club and its the first game of the season today! There is no need to reply to that last bit of useful information.
Regards Mike
