Help with Reg No

Postby brummy » Sat Dec 30, 2006 2:13 am

Hi

I have a Reg No 23429 for Private John Betts and regiment No 23816 for Private Bertram Henry Thomas Preen both Worcestershire Regiment ( both enlisted around 1916, demobed around 1920)
Can anyone explain if there is any more information i can gain about these people purely from thier Regiment numbers

Thanks
Brummy

Hi Brummy. I have found 2 references to Betts J both Privates but unfortunatly no service numbers. One with the 2nd Btn the other just showing Worcestershire Reg.
Betts J (2nd Btn) voluntered 1915 was twice wounded and eventually taken prisoner on the Somme. Second one joined 1916 served at the Somme, Ancre & Ypres. Both servived the war.
