21447 - LCpl Albert Ernest Deakin

I wondered if any forum members could help with information on the above soldier and the location of his unit at the time of his death.

From the CWGC site I've been able to ascertain that his service was as follows:

1st Bn Worcestershire Regiment
Age: 27
Date of Death: 26/10/1916
Service No: 21447
Additional information: Son of Maria Deakin, of 60, Moor St., Worcester, and the late Thomas Deakin; husband of Frances Mabel Deakin, of 14 Tennis Walk, Worcester.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Pier and Face 5 A and 6 C.
Memorial: THIEPVAL MEMORIAL

On the 26th October 1916 the 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment had 2 men killed and 9 men wounded.

On the evening of the 25th October 1916 the 1st Battalion moved forward to relieve the East Lancashire Regiment in "Shine Trench" and in the captured "Mild Trench"and settled down on cosolidation of the postion. These trenches were about 500 yards North-East of the village of Guedecourt (this village was 2500 yards west of Le Transloy). They were there all day of the 26th October 1916 when L/Cpl Albert Ernest Deakin (21447) and L/Cpl. Albert Frank Clark (30550) was killed.

This area of activity was referred to as the Battle of Transloy (The Somme).
