Moore Henry 5584 Cpl.

Postby oldhamjg » Sat Nov 03, 2007 2:12 am

I have in the last month managed to trace my Grandfather!! He died and was buried in an unmarked grave in Le Quinque near Festuburg. Henry Moore 5584 Cpl. F. & F. 27/10/1914 3rd.
I have recently received photos and scans of documents that are puzzling.
1.A bible given to him by the P.S.A Society Stafford on his leaving for India dated Dec 1900.
2.Photos of him and others in army uniform but in a desert with palms in the background
3. He was born in Stafford why would he be in a Worcestershire Regiment
Am I able to post pictures

Hi,
I have found a Pte H. Moore 5584 reported in the Worcester Herald 26th December 1914 as Killed. Could this be your Grandfather? If you have his service number I will check this for you.

Many thanks for the help. It would be appreciated if you could follow it up, his Number was 5584 . I am emailing copies of two documents I have which should help with the ID.

Hi John
The only entry I have is the one already stated. This information is all that was shown in the list of casualties in the Worcester Herald. I will keep a note of this name and number and if I manage to find anythimng else I will contact you.
