9th Bn Worcestershire Regiment

Postby Dannemois » Fri Feb 22, 2008 7:23 pm

I am researching a Capt E W S Martin of the Royal Army Medical Corps 1915 - 1917. He was attached to the 9th Bn and KIA 16 Feb 1917 at Mesopotamia. Looking for information where exactly the 9th Bn were on that day and what action were they involved in.

regards

Roy

Hi Roy,

Capt E. W. S. Martin was killed at point M33 (Military Map) on the banks of the River Tigris about 4 miles west of Kut (on the Dahra Bend, a mile south of a bridge). He was killed going to the aid of 2/Lieut. W. B. Busby who was mortally wounded.

Capt E. W. S. Martin had already been wounded previously on the 25th January 1917.

Regards,

Louis
