Private G.F. Quincey. Youngest Man at Gheluvelt?

CWGC Gives the age of 13314 Private George Frederick Quincey as 17 when he was killed in action on the 13th November 1914. Would this make him the youngest 2nd Battalion man (boy) to have sailed for france in August 1914? I have the details from the CWGC site but any further information relating to George Quincey would be most appreciated.

Youngest MAN to die at Gheluvelt?

Hi Peter,
I think you have surely found the youngest Worcestershire Regt. soldier that was at Gheluvelt on 31st October 1914. He had not made it to 17 years of age. He was born in Aston, Birmingham in the 1st Quarter of 1898. So he was actually only 16 years old when he died on 13th November 1914. He should not have been in a war zone till he was at least 18. He enlisted in April 1913, when he was 15.

Hi Mike
Thank you for the information on Quincey. Looks like another of those lads that lied about their age to get into the army. I will have to get his birth certificate and confirm his exact age. As you say he must be the youngest member of the 2nd Battalion at Gheluvelt, if not the youngest member that went to France in August 1914. Will let you know if I'm able to obtain his birth certificate and any further information about him.
