Hi,

I'm trying to find some information about my Grandad on behalf of my Dad. George served in the army from 1931 -1946. He was with the The Worcestershire Regiment 2nd Battalion - "The Vein Openers" till 1944 when he was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters, just in time to go to Anzio!
Any information would be great, he didn't tell my Dad much so it would all help to build a picture of his achievements. It would be great to get a photo or two of him with his battalion. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello Philip,
Welcome to the Forum. The man that specialises in this period (1921-on) is on holiday at the moment. I know nothing of this period, unfortunately. There are two other directions I can point you in though. The Regimental Archives at Norton Barracks have the enlistment ledgers for this period. These ledgers are full of information on each man, columns of wonderful facts. The archives are always glad to help and a small donation helps preserve the very archives you need. The records of all men that served after 1922 are still in the Army records office. You need to contact

There are three similar enquiries on our forum now, so I hope they all read this.
