Hi

I have been told that my Father trained with the Worcesters before being transferred to the 7th Leicestershire Regiment Column 2 (74th Column). His number was 5260573, he was a private. Where can I find out if he was a member of the Worcestshire Regiment

Thanks

Keith

His number is a Worcestershire regiment number. They were issued in this bracket:

Worcestershire Regiment 5239001 - 5328000

To find out more about his service and when he transferred to the Leicesters, you could as NOK write to the Ministry of Defence:

MOD Medal Office
Building 250
Imjin Barracks
Gloucester
GL3 1HW

Not sure if they ask a fee of Next of Kin.

Kind regards,
Lars

Thanks Lars.

I will check that out.

I have been lucky really, my grandad survived Ypres and Somme and was a POW, escaped and was interned in Switzerland where he married my gran after the war. He was in 1st Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Private Joseph Jackson. haven't found his number yet but he was born in Oldbury Birmingham in Feb 1893. Think he was in the home guard in WW2
