I would be grateful for any information on the above officer.
He was the step son of Sir Esmond Ovey, HM Ambassador in Argentina, appears to have been in the Worcestershire Regiment, although he wore a Mexico shoulder flash. He may have had some involvement in the Commandos.
His niece is my significant other half, but can find little information. My own father served with 8th Worcestershire Regt.

Hi Peter,

George Rene Barrios was commissioned in to the Worcestershire Regiment on the 18th December 1943 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. His officer army number was 302845. He relinquished his commission on the 16th October 1946 and was granted the honourary rank of Lieutenant. whilst he was a cadet his number was 14402266 but this change to 302845 when he was commissioned.

You should be able to get a copy of his service record papers by contacting the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (Tel. 0800 169 2277). They also have a website.
