Hi

My dad, bill doyle, served in the worcestershire regiment and whilst I have many stories re triploi and Tobruk, benghazi and Italy I am keen to know more, if possible.

I believe he may have served for many years. Definitely WW2

I had understood that he was captured in June 42 when Tobruk fell and that he was taken to Italy but he doesn't appear on the prisoner of war list. I know he escaped from the Germans and was taken in by an Italian family.

Any information re his service would be appreciated.

Thanks Eleanor

Hi Eleanor,
No WW2 information but if PTE.5250438 1/Batt. Worcesters is your father, then as a regular soldier, he served in Palestine, pre-WW2 and was awarded the Army General Service Medal with the clasp Palestine.
Regards
Corona

Hi Corona - Oh many many thanks for your post.

I am unsure if this Dad's number - his full name is William Brown Doyle - are you able to confirm this name with the number you have provided.

I AM EVER SO APPRECIATIVE.

Dad did serve in Palestine - pre WW2 - so is highly likely to be him.

All information is an absolute BLESSING. So thanks Eleanor
