8th Battalion in Cornwall 1940

Postby Skoyen89 » Thu Dec 08, 2011 6:37 pm

Hi

I am researching the 8th Bn in Cornwall in 1940 and their part of the defence of the Bodmin Stop Line, should the Gerrmans have landed there. The 8th Bn were part of 144th Infantry Brigade (part of 48 Division) and this Brigade was tasked with manning the Line which ran from Fowey to Wadebridge, via Lostwithiel and Bodmin. The 8th moved to Cornwall in late July 1940 and spent a period of time in the defence of Falmouth, leaving in 1941.

I have the War Diary from Kew but I am looking to get extra detail from supplementary sources (veterans, books, accounts, photos etc) and would welcome anyone who can point me in the direction of any of these sources that they know about.

Thanks
