Postby tashi1957 » Thu Jun 06, 2013 8:30 am

My father also James Rooney 1st battalion was about to land at Arromanches today 69 years ago H + 3, he was a guard attached to 8 core intelligence HQ. does any one know of this small group as they were not with the rest of the battalion that landed later June 22nd.
I would be very grateful as we only have memories of dad's stories.
Jim Rooney.

Hi Jim, I'm researching a documentary about a veteran of the Worcestershire Regiment and he tells me that he landed on D-Day. I had spotted the discrepancy in the dates and asked him about it and he told me that he was part of an advance party. Your post has helped to confirm his story.

He's still very much with us.
