Hi,
did you compile the list of WW2 P.O.W. by using PRISONERS OF WAR BRITISH ARMY 1939 - 1945. I ask the question because I was looking for E.Asher who was captured in Libya.

Hi,
Some of the POW details on this website are from the POW returns dated September 1944. I had a look for you for the surname Asher and came up with only 4 on the list (other ranks) - details below:
Private E. L. Asher (army No. 5180705) Gloustershire Regiment - POW at Camp Stalag 344 - POW No. 15213.
Private V. L. Asher (army No. 5502479) Hampshire Regiment - POW at Camp Stalag 344 - POW No. 81516.
Private W. H. Asher (army No. 5892055) Sherwood Foresters - POW Camp Stalag 7A - POW No. 131222.
Private F. Asher (army No. 13000778) P.O. - POW Camp Stalag 20B - POW No. 7288.

Hi Louis,
thanks for that but none fit. The man I was looking for is Pte.E.Asher 5117766 1st Btn.Worcesters.
As the List originates from 1944 he probably escaped earlier. I am working on the files next week so I will look for him at The National Archives.

Hi,
the man has been found.He escaped after the Italians Capitulated. The details are as follows.- Pte Asher E. 5117766 1st Btn.Worcester Rgt. Captured 21/6/42 - Arrived Switzerland 6/11/43. The details came from WO208/4239.
