Boer war

We have Elias's WW1 medals and his record and medal card PlumPudding from Ancestry. We understand that Elias served in the Boer war as well as WW1. He served in the Worcesters (Sgt 9637) and the Labour Corps (Sgt 379900) Family folklore says that at some stage he was RSM Chance but we do not have any proof of this. Can anyone assist me with Elias's Boer war record, please
