Pte 1037 Charles Chantler 2nd Btn. Worcs.

My grandfather was Pte 1037 Charles Chantler, 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regt. I have a copy of his parchment discharge certificate, (which is very difficult to read). I know he was awarded the South African Medal but unfortunately I do not have it. How can I find if he was entitled to anything else, (meadals, bars), where he fought and any other details related to his service with the Worcs? I know he joined the Royal Engineers in 1914, when he became Sapper Richard Charles Chantler and sometimes Chandler and was eligible to a trio on discharge, but unfortunately I dont have these either. Any information would be much appreciated.

Yes he was. He later lived in Birmingham after his WW1 discharge from the R.E.

Hi corona,
Thanks so much for your information. I had no idea about the Militia. Guess I will have to join Ancestry now!

Regards, Trick.
